2024 International Environmental Science Olympiad Concludes in Puerto Rico!

2024 is in the books, and with it, the inaugural International Environmental Science Olympiad, which like 2024, concluded on December 31! 83 Competing Students representing India, China, Puerto Rico, and 19 US states and over 150 family members and friends joined us for an amazing five days in San Juan, Puerto Rico and its surrounding environment, including hikes and birding trips to El Yunque National Forest. After the 15 separate medal events concluded for the three age divisions, Team China topped the medals table with 9 golds, while California pocketed the most overall medals with 20. Yichen Tan of China topped the individual medals table with 11 medals, and 5 golds, and the Overall Champions were as follows:

High School Division – Ethan Li, Virginia
Middle School Division – Naman Mishra, Washington
Elementary School Division – Osman Uran, Illinois

International Academic Competitions, the presenting organization of IESO 2024, wishes to thank our hosts at Robinson School for ensuring a highly successful event. Families were unanimous in their fondness for Robinson School as a hosting venue, and its location near the beach in San Juan made for a great Beach Ecology Fieldwork Exercise and Family Beach Quiz. IAC hopes that all attendees had as great a time at IESO 2024 as our staff did, and we wish everyone a happy, healthy, and intellectually stimulating 2025!
